The New York Council of Nonprofits, Inc. (NYCON) 
is the
best resource for New York State´s Nonprofits!
 
NYCON works to build the capacity of nonprofits and communities to enhance the quality of life in New York State.  We provide a wide array of specialized technical assistance services, including legal and financial, to nonprofits of all kinds in a staff-based, multidisciplinary team model. NYCON also provides an array of group purchasing, insurance and employee benefits  in the context of membership, helping to build a long term, multi-layered service relationship with member nonprofits. Please note that membership does go by a calendar year, beginning in January and ending in December.

How much does nonprofit membership cost?

  • Operating Budget under $50,000: $60
  • Operating Budget $50,000 to $499,999: $110
  • Operating Budget $500,000 to $999,999: $135
  • Operating Budget $1 million to $1,999,999: $200
  • Operating Budget $2 million to  $2,999,999: $300
  • Operating Budget $3 million to $4,999,999: $400
  • Operating Budget $5 million to  $6,999,999: $525
  • Operating Budget $7 million to $9,999,999 $575
  • Operating Budget Over $10 million: $650
  • Corporate (For Profit) Member Dues: $750
  • Individual Citizen Member Dues: $150

What is the Membership Period?
Dues are paid on a calendar year basis. Organizations joining after September 1st receive the subsequent year for free!
If you have a question about the dues you are paying or the term, please contact our membership office so that we can work with you. For many benefits, including some insurance products, employee benefits, our free Lunch & Learn Series and many of our purchasing programs, you must maintain an active NYCON Membership to be eligible for the service or discount.

What are the NYCON Membership Benefits?

Over the phone (or via email) advice & assistance from nonprofit experts in fiscal, governance, legal, planning, fund development, marketing, human resources, benefits, risk management and much more. This assistance is free with membership. Call us at (800) 515-5012 or email vvenezia@nycon.org.

Access to high quality, affordable technical assistance for your own nonprofit. Frequently we work with nonprofits on board governance issues, fiscal procedures, budgeting, policies and procedures, personnel policies, bylaws, compliance issues, entrepreneurial ventures, collaborations, etc. These services are tailored to meet your needs and most services start at $115 per hour.

Employee Benefits for your staff. Many nonprofits are facing the challenge of being able to provide affordable, high quality benefits packages. Through CS Plus, we are able to provide you with information, products and services to help you create a great package your nonprofit can afford.

Organizational Insurance and Risk Management assistance. Many times nonprofits aren´t sure what they are required to have as far as insurance coverage. Do your funders require particular limits? Are you insured for that special event? Would you just like someone to talk to about your nonprofits "risk" factors and appropriate insurance coverage. That´s all included in NYCON Membership
    Training, Education & Conferences NYCON Training, Workshops and Events are one of the biggest benefits of membership according to a recent Survey!  Members get deep discounts on attending, and are many times elligible for scholarships to conferences through our regional partnerships with foundations in the Mid Hudson Valley, Oneonta, Syracuse and more!

Thank you for being a NYCON Member and participating in our member benefit programs this year. We hope you’ve found them valuable.  There’s more in store for you next year!

One of the best things we’ve ever heard from our members is that joining NYCON “pays for itself” and then some.  Next year, as you might notice, we’ve raised our dues slightly – but only for organizations with budgets over $1,000,000. This means that about half of our members will see no increase at all.

No matter the size of your nonprofit, we want to help you get the most for your membership in 2014.  To make sure that happens we will be doing a couple of exciting things:

  • Providing you with the opportunity to easily add a “GrantStation/Grantseeker” membership to your NYCON Membership for only $75!*
  • Opening up our Health, Dental, and Vision programs to your nonprofit’s volunteers, part-time staff and board members. 
  • Providing you with a full calendar of free monthly “Lunch & Learn” webinars.
