KLEE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Binghamton, New York, August 8, 2018   The Klee Foundation Board of Directors announces its 2018 Volunteer Recognition program.  Every year, hundreds of volunteers support the programs of nonprofit organizations that serve our Broome County communities. Many of these volunteers work behind the scenes and  do not seek leadership positions or recognition, but their dedication and service  are critical to the success of the organization,” said Patricia Ingraham, Klee Board Chair.

The program’s purpose is to show appreciation for the dedication and hard work of their efforts. As a fitting tribute to those volunteers, the Board will annually honor an outstanding volunteer who is an “unsung hero” with the Arthur Orr Award.

For its 2018 award, the Klee Board of Directors is now accepting nominations for exemplary volunteers within our community.  Nonprofit organizations in Broome County are invited to nominate a volunteer who exemplifies extraordinary quality of service to that organization over an extended period.  Applicants must use submission forms provided on the website, following specific criteria detailed there.

The volunteer selected will be honored at Klee’s annual grantee reception in November. In addition, a $1,000 grant will be awarded to a Broome County nonprofit of the recipient’s choice.

The Klee board established the Arthur Orr award in 2017, to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Foundation.  It was named after longtime Klee board member who provided financial oversight and wisdom behind the scenes for many years.

The first recipient was Chris Julian, a volunteer in many key capacities for over 50 years at Tri-Cities Opera.

All nominations must be received by 1:00 P.M. Monday September 10, 2018.
