NYCON Restructuring Announcement- SAS/Prevention Council

Student Assistance Services Corporation (SAS) headquartered in Tarrytown and The Prevention Council of Putnam headquartered in Carmel announce the establishment of a long-term parent-subsidiary corporate affiliation effective July 1, 2018. The affiliation will enhance the substance abuse and bullying prevention work of both agencies which have a long history of collaborating on successful prevention activities. "We believe that our new formal relationship will increase our effectiveness, maximize resources, and benefit Westchester and Putnam residents" stated Kristin McConnell, Executive Director of the Prevention Council and Ellen Morehouse, the Executive Director of SAS.

It is anticipated that there will be a six-month transition of staff and administrative functions with SAS being the parent organization. Both agencies will maintain their existing offices.

The New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON), through funding from the Dyson Foundation, provided the technical assistance for the affiliation. NYCON will continue to provide consultation during the transition period.
