DESCRIPTION: \nNYCON’s Executive Director Leadership Retreats are multiple-day training sessions for executive directors with 5 years or less experience. These retreats have helped hundreds of nonprofit leaders across New York State master the diverse set of skills necessary to be a successful executive director.\nLed by a multi-disciplinary team of experienced instructors, this retreat emphasizes real-world elements of nonprofit executive leadership, management, and problem-solving. Participants are introduced to systems and concepts, through practical application and can engage in region, service, and organization-specific conversations with our instructors and their peers. Participants have an opportunity to schedule individual consultations with our instructors. Through this model, NYCON blends one-on-one consultations, group training, and cohort discussions to explore the experiences, challenges, and opportunities in the nonprofit sector.\nParticipants will explore topics including:\n\nRole of the Executive Director\nExecutive Director’s relationship with the Board of Directors\nNonprofit Accounting and Fiscal Accountability\nEffective Marketing & Messaging Strategies\nLegal Accountability & Compliance\nHuman Resources Issues and Strategies\nPartnering with your board in fund development\n\nNYCON’s Executive Director Leadership Retreats are held multiple times each year in locations across New York State. Accommodations: Two nights stay and all meals over the course of the retreat are included in your registration. For those local to the retreat, a commuter rate may be available. Schedule: The retreat occurs over the course of three days beginning the afternoon of day one, the full second day, and concluding following a morning session on the third day.
