COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR SOUTH CENTRAL NEW YORK, CONRAD AND VIRGINIA KLEE FOUNDATION, STEWART W. AND WILLMA C. HOYT FOUNDATION, UNITED WAY OF BROOME COUNTY AND NYCON ANNOUNCE 2023 SOUTHERN TIER CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM FOCUSED ON RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE

July 18, 2023– The Community Foundation for South Central New York, Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation, Steward W. and Willma C. Hoyt Foundation, United Way of Broome County and New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON) are pleased to announce the 2023 Southern Tier Capacity Building Program, providing grants and training for nonprofit organizations across the region.

Launched in 2008, the Southern Tier Capacity Building Program supports the management and governance needs of the nonprofit sector in Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Tioga counties. In carrying out their mission, nonprofits often confront a lack of resources available to invest in nonprofit management and governance. Consequently, areas like finances, legal services, human resources, strategic planning, staff development, board retention and recruitment are often not given the resources and support required to assure the sustainability and viability of an organization. For 15 years, this Program has helped nonprofits address these challenges by offering a mix of professional development and direct funding support.

Nonprofits that have attended at least ONE webinar or training offered by NYCON in the same year will qualify to apply for the Southern Tier Capacity Building Mini-Grant Program, which could include a special assessment or strategic planning support offered directly by NYCON. Grant awards range with a maximum of $3,000 per nonprofit applicant, depending on grant type. Grants will be awarded competitively to qualifying nonprofits with approved project activities, and all funds must be expended by Dec. 15, 2023. Additional grant criteria is available at
