Statement Against Hate

We are stunned and saddened by the senseless loss of life this weekend, fueled by bigotry and hatred. To many, it feels as though we are a country divided and the rifts are widening. During times like these, it is tempting to withdraw from the world in an attempt to lessen the pain that follows every incomprehensible tragedy.

However, it is during times like these that we must turn outward and be brave, now more than ever. To give of our time and talents, to make ourselves emotionally available to others, to spark meaningful dialogue about how we can heal the divide. No act of kindness is too small – a smile to your neighbor, a helping hand to someone in need, and especially now, words of support to those in our circles of the Jewish faith. Our nonprofit community is perfectly positioned to remind the world every day that in the face of hate, love still thrives in the heart of humanity.

We won’t forget those innocent lives lost, but we can try our best to carry the light in their absence, to ensure that love outshines the darkness.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
