Help Improve NYS Contracts for All Nonprofits

Since January, a coalition of five nonprofit membership groups across New York State have been working together to draft and pass legislation designed to address common challenges nonprofits face when contracting with the state.

The bill – S7001 Mayer / A7616 Paulin – would require government accountability in the contracting process with nonprofit organizations, including:

• Automatic advances
• Higher interest for late state payments
• Indirect cost rates of 15% and more

That bill unanimously passed the legislature, and now we are growing our coalition for the next step: We need your help to convince Gov. Hochul to sign the bill into law.

Join us as we review the bill and discuss ways your organization can help make it NYS law. Specifically, we need help across New York State with:

• Approaching media editorial boards about op-eds
• Engaging reporters to write media stories
• Encouraging more nonprofits to participate in the sign-on letter to the Governor
• Securing support letters from diverse stakeholders including for-profit organizations, faith-based groups, organized labor, and trade associations
• Otherwise bringing attention to and showing public support for this bill
