What is Camp Finance?

At Camp Finance, now in its 23rd year, nonprofit leaders from across New York State have the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in nonprofit operations and fiscal management and how to implement them effectively. Here are some highlights of what you can expect from the premier nonprofit financial management conference:

  • General sessions featuring top experts in the field. Topics may include financial management, fundraising, marketing and communications, nonprofit policy and advocacy, and human resources.
  • Interactive workshops that provide practical tips and strategies for improving nonprofit accounting, accountability and compliance, fundraising, communications and marketing, and governance within your organization, many led by experts you know and love.
  • Networking opportunities with other nonprofit leaders and decision-makers, allowing you to share ideas and build relationships that can benefit your organization in the long run.
  • NYCON's Annual Meeting Luncheon, where you'll have the opportunity to vote on NYCON's slate of board members for the coming year.

When is Camp Finance 2024?

Camp Finance 2024 will be held October 9th and 10th (with early arrival and optional programing on October 8th) at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY

Where is Camp Finance 2024?

Camp Finance 2024 will take place at The Sagamore Resort, a historic hotel located among the beautiful southern Adirondack Mountains in Bolton Landing, New York. It has been a popular destination for vacationers since the late 1800s and it's easy to see why! This year Camp Finance will be set among stunning views of Lake George, known as "The Queen of American Lakes."

How to Register

 Step 1: Register for the Conference

NYCON Member Registration Opens May 1, 2024. Non-Member Registration starts May 15, 2024.

To attend Camp Finance, you must register in advance, whether it's for the whole event or just a day. If you are enrolling multiple attendees, make sure to have their names, email addresses, and titles on hand. Access to The Sagamore Resort will not be allowed without full payment of registration.

If you're a NYCON member, conference registration will cost $710.00. For additional registration options, please click the link provided.

Step 2: Book Your Room

Our room block opens on May 1, 2024.

With a range of room options and rates to choose from ($259-$559 +resort fee and taxes where applicable), we encourage you to select what suits you best. For tax-exempt reservations, The Sagamore Resort requires that the payment method match the organization name on the tax-exempt form. For more details, please contact The Sagamore Resort's reservation desk at (866) 385-6221.

 

Step 3: Consider registering for "Following the Law and Treating Your Employees Right: Personnel Handbook Workshop"

  • Date: Tuesday, Oct. 8 – the day before Camp Finance; attendance at Camp Finance is not required
  • Time: 1-5 pm
  • Place: The Sagamore Resort, 110 Sagamore Road, Bolton Landing
  • Price: $500 per attendee – this event is only open to NYCON members; nonprofits sending more than one representative pay a discounted price of $300 for second and third attendees. Template policies, coffee and snacks are provided.

Join us for this half-day session in which you’ll hear from NYCON’s staff attorneys and HR expert on the top policy changes from the last five years impacting nonprofits and common personnel policy pitfalls. You will also hear directly from New York State Department of Labor auditors, who will share the top compliance issues they see with nonprofits and how to stay in compliance. The DOL auditors will use a mix of presentation, panel discussion and questions/answers to share helpful information you can implement immediately.

In addition, attendees will receive a number of essential policy templates from NYCON that can be personalized for your organization.

      • How much does it cost to attend Camp Finance?

If you're a NYCON member, registration will cost $710.00. Accommodation costs start at $259.00 (+resort fee and taxes where applicable). We suggest making early reservations with The Sagamore Resort to secure a room and a rate that's most suitable for you. For additional registration options, including non-member rates and day passes for Thursday's sessions, please click the link provided. 

      • What is included in the registration fee?

The registration fee includes the ability to attend all sessions of Camp Finance, activities listed on the conference agenda, and all meals, starting with breakfast on October 9th through Lunch on October 10th.

      • Is lodging included in the registration fee?

Hotel accommodations must be booked separately through The Sagamore Resort.

      • What are the accommodation options at the Sagamore Resort?

The Sagamore offers a variety of wonderful options, and we recommend you explore them at the link above. If you prefer to book over the phone or require tax exemption on your order, please contact the reservation desk at (866) 385-6221.

      • Can I arrive a day early?

Yes, in fact, we encourage it. This year we are hosting Following the Law and Treating Your Employees Right: Personnel Handbook Workshop on the afternoon of October 8th, registration for this session is separate from Camp Finance. Our conference rate will be honored for the evening of October 8th, allowing you to explore the area, relax and even take a complimentary ride on The Morgan, a 72-foot replica of 19th century touring vessel for some of the best views of the Adirondacks can be while cruising through the Narrows section of Lake George.

      • Is there a charge for splitting a room?

Two attendees can share a room at no extra charge. Any additional guests (over two guests per room) sharing a room may incur a fee (please see Sagamore policies). All attendees must register for Camp Finance (through NYCON) separately, but sharing a room or suite is a great way to save on expenses and stay connected with those in your organization.

      • Can I have a guest join me who is not attending?

Of course, just be sure to include them when booking accommodations. Please note that only paid Camp Finance attendees can join us for conference meals and activities. However, The Sagamore Resort has dining options on site and activities for non-attendees to enjoy.

      • What is the deadline for registering for Camp Finance?

The deadline to book your accommodations at The Sagamore Resort is September 7, 2024After this date, our conference rate cannot be guaranteed. The deadline to register for Camp Finance is September 18, 2024.

      • What is the cancellation policy for Camp Finance registration?

Registrations: Registration cancellations must be received by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it prior to September 18, 2024, and will be subject to a $100 processing fee for each registration cancelled.  No refunds will be given for cancellations received after September 18, 2024. All payments must be received by September 18, 2024, for access to Camp Finance. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions to this policy. Registration is not complete until payment is received. Registrations cannot be deferred to a future conference under any circumstances.

Accommodations: All accommodations at The Sagamore Resort are subject to The Sagamore Resorts cancellation policies and guidelines which can be accessed here. 

      • Is there a transfer policy for registrations?

Registrations: Registrations can be transfered to another attendee up to 24 hours before the event. Written notice must be sent from the original registrant to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  and include the name, title and organization of the attendee the registration will be transferred to. Registrations cannot be deferred to a future conference under any circumstances.

      • What types of sessions and workshops will be offered at Camp Finance?

Nonprofit Accounting: This track will cover the fundamentals of nonprofit accounting, including financial reporting and more.

Accountability and Compliance: In this track, you'll learn about legal, human resources, and regulatory compliance requirements for nonprofits, including reporting and record-keeping.

Marketing, Communications and Fundraising: This track will focus on different strategies and techniques for fundraising, how to effectively promote your nonprofit and communicate its mission and impact.

Nonprofit Governance: This track will provide an overview of nonprofit governance structures and best practices for board management and leadership with a focus on fiscal oversight.

      • Will there be any recreational activities offered at Camp Finance?

We will also host our annual campfire with Smores on the evening of October 9th.

The Sagamore Resort offers a wide range of recreational activities, including golfing, tennis, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and biking available to attendees, these activities may have additional cost.

      • Is this an exclusively in-person event? 

This is an exclusive in-person event because we believe that there is immense value in learning within a community and connecting with your peers, now more than ever.

  • Can I receive Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for attending Camp Finance?

Camp Finance is an approved CPE Course (12 hours). More information will be available to all registrants immediately following Camp Finance 2024.
