NYCON's Board Development Committee is actively recruiting for highly motivated individuals who are passionate about the nonprofit community in our state and have the time, resources, and connections to contribute to our mission.
Our Board of Directors is an engaged and high performing board with a strong commitment to diversity. NYCON and its three affiliates, Council Services Plus, Good Causes, and BoardStrong, provide a full continuum of ever-expanding capacity building services throughout the state along with a unified policy and advocacy voice that strengthens the New York State nonprofit community.

- Fiduciary Oversight
- Actively Participate on the Board
Strategic Board Priorities
Although all candidates who are committed to the NYCON mission and will fulfill core board responsibilities and expectations will be considered, the Board Development Committee is strategically prioritizing the recruitment of individuals who will bring to the board:
- Knowledge, skills, and connections in:
- Marketing
- Corporate Leadership
- Philanthropy
- Real Estate
The Board Development Committee is also looking for candidates who will bring different perspectives, networks, and input to the board. Consequently, candidates that will bring new racial, ethnic, religious, gender or sexual orientation perspectives are encouraged to apply. The committee is also seeking candidates:
- Under the age of 35
- North Country and Western NY residents
Please note that we strongly prefer candidates who qualify as “Independent Directors” under state statute.
