Are you interested in volunteering to serve on a nonprofit board?

Do you want help finding the right one? Do you know about the responsibilities of nonprofit board members?

Please join us for this free workshop on finding and serving on a nonprofit board.

Board service is rewarding for many reasons. The appeal of giving your time, talent and treasure to a nonprofit that serves a cause or community that you care about has its own intrinsic rewards. In addition, board members are leaders and can expect professional growth, networking opportunities and perhaps even a certain level of recognition in the community.

Board service is also serious business and carries with it a significant level of responsibility. It is not a position to be taken lightly, so it is very important that current or prospective board members be fully aware of the responsibilities, the performance expectations, and the opportunities associated with serving on the board of a nonprofit.

Governance Matters can help empower you with the education, tools and resources necessary to be the most effective board member possible and also connect you with the “right” nonprofit match. In this workshop, Barbara Paxton, Chief Program Officer of Governance Matters, will walk you through the steps of what it means to serve on the Board of Directors of a nonprofit organization and what you should know before you join one.
